As part of their BTEC level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Business students at OPA have to organise and manage a business event.

The year 2 OPA6 students decided to organise and manage a charity quiz, raffle and auction with proceeds going to Great Ormond Street Hospital. The group initially studied the role of an event organiser and the duties and responsibilities involved and then worked collectively over an eight week period to put the theory into practice.

Raffle and auction prizes were sourced from local businesses and the community, a challenging quiz was written and staff were invited to attend a very entertaining if somewhat competitive event on Friday 12th June.

As trained Baristas the students also ran a profit making coffee bar which raised extra funds for the charity.

The final figure raised through quiz team entries, the raffle and auction and profit from the coffee bar totalled just over £350 ! The feedback received by the students in order for them to evaluate the success of the event was overwhelmingly positive with 100% stating they would attend a similar event in the future.

The winning quiz team were the English Department who received a bottle of Champagne and the losing team were the nursing team who received a wooden spoon !

Well done indeed to an outstanding group of students !
