Welcome Back

September 9th, 2019|

Dear Parents and Carers,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome both you, and our students, back to another exciting year at Ormiston Park Academy.

Throughout the summer we have been celebrating the increased attainment achieved in GCSE and vocational subjects with our members of staff and Year 11 students.

Overall, 48% of students at Ormiston Park Academy achieved a Grade 4 or higher in both English and maths – an increase of 8 percentage points on last year’s figure.

As well as achieving strong results in the core subjects, students at the academy have made progress significantly above the national average in a wide range of subjects including biology; business; engineering; health and fitness and information technology (IT).

Amongst the many individual success stories include Alex Poignant, Alex Daw and Cameron Root, who between them have achieved the top Grade 9 GCSE in English Language, English Literature, Biology, French and English, and a Grade 8 in mathematics, chemistry and physics.

These results are a testament to the hard work and commitment of our students, supported by our staff, families and the wider school community.

Last week we had the pleasure to welcome 126 new Year 7 students and their families into the Ormiston Park learning community. Year 7 have made a fantastic start to their learning careers here, and I look forward to seeing them progress over the next five years.

I have also had the pleasure of greeting the rest of our student community, and welcoming them back to the new school term and they too have made an outstanding start to the new school year.

Yours sincerely,

Huw Derrick

Dear Parents/Carers

July 19th, 2019|

I have today issued all students with a letter to inform you of some key dates and information as we break for the summer and in preparation for the next academic year.

I would like to thank all the parents and carers who attended the behaviour information meetings at which I, with my colleague Mr Rashid, responded to your questions and queries. I would also like to thank those parents/ carers who have taken the time to contact the Academy with their support for the changes we outlined and with constructive suggestions. The new policy has already seen a significant improvement in the behaviour of our students and has enabled our teachers to focus more effectively on delivering outstanding lessons to all our students.

I would also like to thank you for your continued support in ensuring our uniform standards are maintained at the highest level. Please ensure that on return winter coats are compliant with our policy and that all students have a suitable school bag and a full set of the required equipment.

May I ask please that the actions required regarding informing the Academy of emergency contact details for all students are completed as soon as is possible (Information and instructions are given on the reverse of my letter).

The full letter is posted on the Academy website in the Letters Home section. Further information will be posted as and when required.

From all at the Academy we wish everyone a safe, enjoyable and refreshing summer break.
