Teachers at Ormiston Park Academy (OPA) were bursting with pride after former student Emily Wisdom, came to a recent parents evening with an update on her achievements over the last year.
Part of the Year 11 cohort last year, ambitious Emily is now studying four A-Levels and already has her sight set on obtaining a place at university to study Midwifery.
They were particularly impressed by Emily’s hunger for adventure in her chosen field, after she ventured abroad to undertake a work placement in Poland. There she worked as a trainee midwife, alongside her mentor and other medical students and helped deliver eleven babies as well as pre and post-natal care to new and expectant mothers.
Emily’s mother shared some of the great reports received from Emily’s college regarding her progress and attitude to her work. Together, they are researching which university will best suit Emily to fulfil her Midwifery dream.
OPA Principal, Huw Derrick, said:
“We love seeing former OPA students succeed and it is heart-warming to know we helped steer them on the path to success.
“We know all students at OPA have the ability to prosper in their future endeavours and we are committed to ensuring they have the best possible opportunity to do this by providing them with a great education.”
