Aveley residents rave about Ormiston Park Academy’s Christmas fayre.
Local residents revelled in festive fun at Ormiston Park Academy’s annual Christmas Fayre. This year the celebrations were bigger and better than ever, including a glittering grotto for Santa and his elves. The aptly named ‘Heartspace’ – the school’s large dining and recreation area – housed a multitude of stalls, selling everything from clothing and gifts to Christmas confectionary. A hot and sizzling hog roast kept the fayre-goers fully satiated, whilst Christmas gingerbread and candy floss satisfied those with a sweet tooth. Outdoors, youngsters squealed with delight as they rode the Teacup ride, as the twinkling, festive lighting lit up the dark December night.
Sophie Woods, year 10 student of Ormiston Park Academy rejoiced:
“It felt so festive, with Santa in his grotto and Dan [OPA school nurse] playing Christmas songs on the piano. It was like Christmas had come early!”
Riah Caudwell, also year 10, added:
“It was a really fun event, everyone was really welcoming. There was so much to do, everyone was having a great time, it was so busy!”
The fayre was a huge success and the academy’s busiest one yet. As the activities bustled on in the ‘Heartspace’, one might ponder that Ormiston Park Academy shone at the heart of the Aveley community.
