Dear Parents and Carers,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome both you, and our students, back to another exciting year at Ormiston Park Academy.

Throughout the summer we have been celebrating the increased attainment achieved in GCSE and vocational subjects with our members of staff and Year 11 students.

Overall, 48% of students at Ormiston Park Academy achieved a Grade 4 or higher in both English and maths – an increase of 8 percentage points on last year’s figure.

As well as achieving strong results in the core subjects, students at the academy have made progress significantly above the national average in a wide range of subjects including biology; business; engineering; health and fitness and information technology (IT).

Amongst the many individual success stories include Alex Poignant, Alex Daw and Cameron Root, who between them have achieved the top Grade 9 GCSE in English Language, English Literature, Biology, French and English, and a Grade 8 in mathematics, chemistry and physics.

These results are a testament to the hard work and commitment of our students, supported by our staff, families and the wider school community.

Last week we had the pleasure to welcome 126 new Year 7 students and their families into the Ormiston Park learning community. Year 7 have made a fantastic start to their learning careers here, and I look forward to seeing them progress over the next five years.

I have also had the pleasure of greeting the rest of our student community, and welcoming them back to the new school term and they too have made an outstanding start to the new school year.

Yours sincerely,

Huw Derrick
