Welcome Back
Dear Parents and Carers, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome both you, and our students, back to another exciting year at Ormiston Park Academy. Throughout the summer we have been celebrating the increased attainment achieved in GCSE and vocational subjects with our members of staff and Year 11 students. Overall, 48% of students at Ormiston Park Academy achieved a Grade 4 or higher in both English and maths – an increase of 8 percentage points on last year’s figure. Survey
Students at OPA are completing some work around finding information about the best playing surfaces for sports in our community. The students hope to use this data to inform us whether we can make an application for a new surface to be installed at OPA for use by all members of our community at the evenings and weekends, helping sporting activities and clubs to grow in Thurrock. Make Engineering Happen

Year 7 Progress Evening
We warmly invite you to attend the Year 7 Progress Evening to discuss your child/dependent’s progress as they approach the start of their Year 8 studies. During this evening you will have the opportunity to meet with your child/dependent’s teachers to review the progress they have made since starting OPA and to set targets to help them reach their aspirations for the year ahead. The evening will be held on Wednesday 30th January between 5.00 and 7.00pm. Appointments will be on a first come first serve basis.
Coats In School
As the cold weather has hit since our return from Christmas we welcome the fact that students are arriving into the Academy dressed appropriately in warm winter coats. A polite reminder that according to our uniform policy that only black coats are permitted inside the Academy buildings and all non-black coats will need to be removed once inside the building including movement between lessons and at food breaks.

Shakespeare Schools Photographs
Ormiston Park Academy are pleased to announced that Splatt Media have produced photographs for Shakespeare Schools that took place at Southend Palace Theatre on 13th November 2018 If you are a parent/guardian wishing to purchase photographs of your child you will need a passcode. Please contact Mrs Bridge by emailing [email protected] Once you have the code, you are able to purchase the photos from the Splatt Media website.

Year 11 Mock Exams
Year 11 Mock Exams 3rd December 2018 to 11th December 2018 Year 11 mock exams start on Monday 3rd December. Students should attend school as normal and will be in either their timetabled lesson or an exam. Students should bring their own equipment. Mobile phones must be switched off and left in bags during exams.
