Welcome to OPA6, Ormiston Park Academy’s Sixth Form. Here, our vision is to provide all students, on entry, with a personalised pathway that enables each and every student to achieve their personal aspirations at the end of their time with us.
Our sixth form provides a range of academic and vocational courses to meet the needs of all students, together with exciting enrichment and personal development opportunities. OPA6 encourages all students to develop into confident, independent, and responsible adults, ready to progress on to university, apprenticeships or their new careers in the work place.
Students receive support and guidance from our Head of Yr11-13, 6th Form Tutor, Pastoral Lead and Careers Advisor who are available on a daily basis. The Director of 6th Form is also always available to meet with students and parents to offer support and advice. Students are guided to attend university open days either independently or as part of organized OPA6 visits. Professionals from industry and the workplace are invited to present to students to broaden their knowledge of potential careers and develop links for work experience. OPA6 students are encouraged to participate in voluntary service, either within the Academy or in the wider community.
OPA6 students have access to a dedicated 6th Form Base containing computer and printing facilities, support from the 6th Form staff team, quiet study areas and a space in which to prepare refreshments, relax and socialise during break times. Students’ directed study takes place in all areas of the Academy, offering the same opportunities to benefit from our wonderful facilities such as the Innovation Room, Theatre, purpose-built sport areas (including fitness suite), Lecture Theatres and Technology areas as students lower in the school. Students are supported in developing the skills required to enhance their learning with effective independent study.
OPA6 provides valuable continuity for our students in the lower Academy, ensuring students who choose to continue their educational journey with us are fully supported through the transition from Year 11 into 6th form. We also welcome students from other schools and academies to join the OPA6 family and offer outstanding support as they settle in to their new environment and build new relationships.
OPA6 is proud to continue in partnership with South Essex College (SEC) to provide our Partnership Students with access to a further range of courses on offer at their Southend, Basildon and Thurrock campuses. Students can study full time at SEC or choose to access OPA6 staff support and utilise study facilities on their non-timetabled days.
For enquiries relating to joining OPA6 please contact the Sixth Form team. We look forward to welcoming you and playing a part in your journey to excellence.
