23rd June is International Women in Engineering Day. A group of Year 9 girls had the opportunity to participate in a visit to ‘DP World’ the Gateway container port.
DP World London Gateway is the UK’s most integrated logistics hub; a state-of-the-art, globally connected deep-sea port and rail terminal, on the same site as an expansive land bank for the flexible and fast development of logistics facilities and warehouses.
The main aim of the visit was to provide an insight into engineering.
The visit included a tour of the site as well as a seminar workshop and breakout sessions with a focus on female engineers in the fields from:
- Civil Engineering
- Planning Engineering
- Equipment Engineering
- Project management Engineering
One student who has joined us since relocating from India emailed Mr Winkworth shortly after getting back from the trip:
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to go on this trip. This is actually my first trip from school in England and I did actually really enjoy it.
